23rd June 2016 was hammer blow to me. I see myself very much as a European and am devastated at the potential consequences of Brexit. I read German Studies and Modern European History at university and trained initially as a German and French teacher before switching to history. I lived in Germany and travelled extensively in Europe. None of that would have seemed purposeful and would have been a lot more difficult to do if I had grown up in a country outside of the EU. Many of my German friends just do not understand what Britain has done to itself and view it as an act of national self destruction.

Brexit is a calamity. We are stronger, more secure, better connected, friendlier, more prosperous and culturally enriched by our relationship with Europe and membership of the EU. We must do everything we can to stop Britain leaving the EU before it is too late.
