Film night - Burned

  • Alexandra Suite, Royal Wells Hotel 59 Mount Ephraim Tunbridge Wells TN4 8BE (map)

Free screening of the award winning documentary.

Tunbridge Wells Friends of the Earth are partnering with Biofuelwatch to bring you "Burned: Are trees the new coal?" - a powerful documentary about forest destruction for biomass electricity and the subsidies that enable it.

Biofuelwatch is currently campaigning to get subsidies for burning wood in power stations revoked and redirected towards genuinely renewable energy. Biomass power station operators receive these subsidies (with Drax Power Station on its own receiving more than £2 million every day), despite the fact that it damages the climate, forests and communities.

Q&A with a Biofuelwatch representative at the end of the film.

Find out more about the film and watch a trailer. There is more info on Biofuelwatch's campaign here.

Donations are welcomed to help cover the costs.
