David's report

THE BIGGEST PRO EUROPEAN MARCH IN HISTORY

It was awe inspiring:

  • The cleverness of the thousands of home-made placard texts.

  • The determined patience of those hemmed in by the press of people waiting to start marching.

  • The old lady with her walking frame who had travelled 5 hrs on a bus from Brecon, sitting on the floor to rest at the foot of the Women in World war II Memorial on Whitehall.

  • The American tourist with trembling hands who had had to pay a £20 fare for a taxi stuck in gridlocked traffic who wanted to photograph me with my placard but couldnt hold his camera still.

  • The youngsters dancing to a beating drum rythm.

  • The emotion welling up and elation to feel the power of the people.
